2012 – The story of HipPOPs starts with a charismatic fellow… Anthony (Tony) Fellows that is. With over 30 years of managing, owning and operating frozen dessert businesses, Tony’s passion was to create a premium frozen dessert and deliver it to the world in an uncommon way: handcraft the world’s best gelato, put it on a stick and make it a mobile concept (versus the traditional brick & mortar).
After countless months of trial and error, Tony had finally developed the HipPOPs proprietary recipes and “handcrafted awesomeness” was born! Next was creating the POPtruck and no stone was left unturned: from the brand colors, usage of space, operational sequence, functionality, to the elevated customer experience… The World’s Coolest Dessert Truck had emerged.
Recognition
2013 to 2017 – As Tony’s business began to grow, so did Florida’s appetite for his POPtruck and customizable gelato-on-a-stick! Over the next 5 years Tony’s brand of HipPOPs handcrafted gelato bars exploded with POPularity and built an army of loyal POPfans that would consistently follow his truck.
“The feedback was incredible,” said Tony, “I was thrilled to discover that our guests truly see the value in high quality ingredients and an elevated catering experience altogether. It felt as if they couldn’t get enough! They always came back to try a different flavor combination.”
As his following grew so did the media recognition, and not just in South Florida, but across the country. One of Tony’s most memorable awards was by “The Daily Meal,” recognizing HipPOPs as a Top-10 Dessert Truck in America! “Winning this award really put us on a greater platform and gave us national exposure. However, I was just one man and his truck, and I realized I needed some help to navigate my dream to the next level.”
Collaboration
2017 – While shopping in Miami Beach, Tony bumped into a group of unsuspecting, passionate and seasoned entrepreneurs: Asi Shlomo, Shay Gru and Daniel Belger, who successfully operated businesses in Denver, Colorado.
The connection was immediate! They soon realized they all share the same core values of keen attention to details, love of frozen desserts and uncompromising hunger for customer satisfaction. They decided to bring HipPOPs to the Mile-High City in Colorado.
“We were excited to partner with someone who was as passionate as we were, not just someone looking to turn a quick profit” said Asi Shlomo. “We each bring a unique quality to our HipPOPs team. There were times that the four of us found ourselves lost in a spontaneous 4-way call at 5am to discuss a new HipPOPs idea. Despite the early hours, we were all being very loud and enthusiastic like 4 kids in an ice cream shop”. A partnership & friendship of epic proportions was conceived!
Expansion
2020 – HipPOPs finally made its long awaited debut to the Mile High City after 3 years of strategizing. Not only did we build another one of the World’s Coolest Dessert Trucks, the team also built a state-of-the-art creamery.
Since Denver’s POPtruck first rolled out of its new home, HipPOPs Denver has surely upheld the award-winning reputation of the HipPOPs brand: already named Denver’s #2 Dessert Food Truck of 2020 by Denver A-List. Not just a successful mobile dessert concept anymore, the HipPOPs team is pushing the POPstick to a whole ‘nother level by bringing on an Executive Pastry Chef, to perfect the HipPOPs exclusive product line.
With an elevated POPtruck and catering experience, offering a premium frozen dessert, extended delivery & curbside pickup hours and unique flavor combinations, HipPOPs has sparked lots of interest as it continues to create new POPfans daily.
